BAR BQ ~ Park Slope

Bar BQ ~ 689 6th Ave. Park Slope, Brooklyn 11215 ~ 718-499-4872 (TACO Map)

My mama’s Texan and I work in South Central Los Angeles, so unless it was in a Prospect Park grill, the idea of barbeque in Park Slope sounded like a bad review waiting to happen. Still, it was where the extremely right-wing girl I had picked up in Bay Ridge wanted to go, so we went with the NYC TACO Crew to check it.

While my bone-dry chicken was not impressive, the bartendress, Joy, sure was. She persuaded me not to order a different dish cuz it’s a pain to make, and boy do I love my girls sassy. The fellas seemed to enjoy their brisket though. Something surely kept us there until closing, just as something has the spot emphasizing BAR over B and Q…it should really be “Bar Y Que?” It must have been the good tunes and the friendly banter we had going, aided by real Texan beers and liberal shots of Patron.

Eastern seaboard attempts at down-home comfort cuisine aside, BBQ is a homey, comfortable bar for chilling over some cold ones or secluding yourself in the corner with the one you desire (Pull the trigger, guy, pull the trigger!). They have dope bric-a-brac and a no-nonsense, but pleasant vibe that will bring us back…for Joy, her magic potions, and Eva Cassidy.

Okay, I caught her by surprise, she’s much hotter than this!
